What Do I Need To Do Before My Allergy Test?

Preparing For Your Allergy Test

We want to make sure your appointment is as successful as possible, which is why we ask that you avoid taking certain medications that may interfere with the effectiveness of your allergy test before coming in.

Stop taking the following medications five (5) days before your appointment:

  • All anti-histamines (Claritin, Allegra, Benadryl, Zyrtec, etc)
  • Allergy eye drops
  • Tylenol PM
  • Advil PM
  • NyQuil
  • Multivitamins or Supplements

If you currently take any of the following:

  • Heart medications
  • Blood pressure medications
  • Sleep aides
  • Any other prescription or over-the-counter (OTC) medications

Please give us a call at 512-628-5989 so our team can identify any issues with medications that could interfere with testing. Please also let us know if for any reason you've been to the Emergency Room for a severe allergic reaction.

If Your Child Was Prescribed EMLA Cream

If your child has been prescribed EMLA cream for their allergy test, follow these helpful tips before your appointment:
